I live in Sderot in Israel, my town this morning was taken over by terrorists my friends and neighbors murdered. Hundreds of innocent lives taken. I’ve read their texts as they begged for help that didn’t come.
Terrorism is evil, killings of innocents is evil. The ends don’t justify the means.I don’t justify it when Israel, America or any country fucks up- so stop justifying a terrorist group that wants to kill every Jewish person in the world, all Israelis and kills people for being LGBTQ+. As a Jewish gay woman they make it clear I don’t deserve to live. And have tried to kill me many times with rocket fire, and yesterday with invasion.
To all those who say it’s justified- America has done fucked up things in Afghanistan do all Americans deserve to die? To all British people deserve to die? Iran kills people, so does China- do all their civilians deserve to die?

no. no it fucking does not. sexual violence has been used in conflicts since time immemorial, and some piece of shit has justified it since time immemorial. it has always been wrong; the justification has always been evil. kingdoms fall, nations rise, the political rhetoric changes, but nobody ever updates the justification: the bitch always deserved it, and her rape is always noble and righteous because her rapists said so.

It fundamentally dehumanizes women to think rape is a legitimate political tool, because women’s bodies are basically seen as land or a resource to be conquered. Nothing more. With that video of the dead, raped woman paraded through the streets, half of the people cheering that on only see her body as a win for their political ideology—they don’t see that body as having belonged to a human being. The other half? Well, I think it’s like you said: they’re just celebrating complete brutality against women, because they like it.
Anyway, I said it yesterday but you’d be surprised how many enemies you make online by saying rape is always wrong, and civilian massacres are always wrong. A lot of people really, truly think rape and terrorism are acceptable as long as it’s against people they hate and/or carried out by people they support, and that’s such a twisted, dangerous path to go down. If someone doesn’t have “rape and civilian mass murder are always wrong” as their baseline, they cannot be trusted.
Like now that I am awake I need to reiterate how huge this is. It was presumed harvested to extinction by the Romans. It was a favorite flavoring and according to historians one of the best contraceptives ever known. True or not it would be fantastic to study that but it being extinct made that impossible.
This is such a huge deal! I hope they get it figured how to grow it.

thousands are still missing
an apartment complex for the elderly was lost. not everyone could get out. people were saying goodbye to loved ones over the phone
people who did get out of lahaina were leaving with ashes covering their faces and nothing but the clothes on their backs. people are losing everything.
hotels are still operating. hotels are still operating. they are not the ones offering shelters or housing or food. even bowling alleys are offering shelter, but hotels have the audacity to build on burial sites but not open their doors to local families who have lost everything.
